Social Impact Partners (SIP) is proud to commit HKD 1 million in strategic funding to The Nesbitt Centre (TNC), a leading charitable organisation in Hong Kong dedicated to empowering English-speaking adults with learning differences through blended learning, vocational training, and residential support.
“The Nesbitt Centre has a unique and proven model that links education and training directly to meaningful employment opportunities for adults with special needs,” said Josephine Price, Chair of SIP. “We are proud to support TNC because its work reduces inequalities and promotes dignity, independence, and inclusion. By strengthening its business model and scaling its enterprises, we can help TNC deliver even greater long-term impact for the community.”
Founded in 1993, TNC currently supports 47+ learners through its Learning Centre Activities Programme and employs more than 60 staff, including 39 adults with special learning needs. Its social enterprises, including The Nest@St John Cathedral, The Nest@St Andrew, The Nest@SPCA Tsing Yi, and Museum Café 8, provide meaningful employment pathways while fostering community inclusion.
At TNC, learners progress through a “skills-to-training-to-jobs” pathway, gaining hands-on experience in its coffee shops, bakery, and other vocational programmes. This approach equips them with practical skills, confidence, and communication abilities—empowering them to contribute to society and live more independently.
The investment from SIP will support marketing and business promotion initiatives, while also enabling TNC to expand its profit-making F&B social enterprises.
“We understand the importance of building a sustainable model for our F&B businesses,” said Dr. Billy Yeung, Executive Director of TNC. “With SIP’s support, we can expand our enterprises in ways that not only ensure financial sustainability but also create more job opportunities for adults with special learning needs. This allows our learners to contribute to society while realising their full potential.”
This investment aligns with SIP’s commitment to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. This investment followed a rigorous due diligence process led by SIP’s strategic pro bono partners, including legal review by Johnson Stokes & Master, financial assessment by Deloitte, management evaluation by Egon Zehnder, and ESG assessment by Pacific Risk Advisors. SIP will continue to provide post-investment support to help TNC strengthen its operations and build toward long-term sustainability.
