Privacy Policy

Social Impact Partners Limited (“SIP”, “us”, or “we”) is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of your personal data (as described below) held by us. We fulfill this commitment by implementing the principles and requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

This Privacy Policy describes how and why we may collect, store, use and/or share your personal data when we provide our services (“Services”), such as when you:-

  • Visit SIP’s website and webpages at https://www.siphk.org/.

  • Provide pro bono or other support to SIP.

  • Make, provide, apply for, or receive donations, investments or other support from or via SIP.

  • Register for or participate in SIP’s events, workshops, or other activities.

  • Engage with SIP in other related ways or when you make enquiries with SIP
    (together, the “Services”).

By using our Services, you acknowledge and agree to the collection, use and transfer of your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you provide us with personal data on behalf of another person, you represent that you have obtained their consent to provide their personal data to us, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Collection of Information

When you use our Services, SIP may require you to provide the following types of personal data (or
this may be collected automatically from you):

  • ​Name, address, email, phone number and other contact details.

  • Occupation.

  • Donation records, declaration of donation of goods, and credit card and bank account information.

  • Photographs, videos, or audio recordings taken during SIP activities (refer to Section 3 for details).

  • Website usage data, including IP addresses, domain names, and browsing behavior (refer to Section 7 on Cookies).

  • Communication records related to interactions with SIP.​

1.1 Public Information

SIP may collect publicly available data, which may or may not contain personal data, from online or open sources or third parties as permitted by law.

Depending on the Services, we will indicate if the collection and provision of certain categories of personal data are mandatory. It may impact SIP’s ability to provide certain Services if you do not provide the mandatory personal data. All other personal data can be provided on a voluntary basis.

2. Use of Personal Data

SIP will limit the collection and use of personal data to the following purposes (including any directly
related purposes):-

  • Provision of our Services.

  • Donor Identification & Processing: To manage donations, issue receipts, and handle donor communications.

  • Fundraising & Administration: To assess, facilitate or otherwise process fundraising and investment applications and activities, communicate with you about our events, workshops and other activities, process your registrations and verify your identity, facilitate our daily operations and administration.

  • Project Management & Development: To analyze data for research and impact measurement, conduct survey and research.

  • Promotional, marketing or archiving purposes of SIP and our events, workshops, or other activities.

  • Legal Compliance: To comply with regulatory, tax, or legal obligations.

2.1 Intellectual Property & Content Ownership

SIP or its authorized partners own the copyright and other intellectual property rights subsisting in all photographs, videos, and audio recordings taken by them (as the case may be) during SIP activities. Such materials cannot be reproduced, published, or disseminated without SIP’s explicit authorization.

3. Consent for Use of Photos and Videos

SIP may capture photographs, videos, or audio recordings of participants during our events, workshops, or other activities. SIP will inform participants in the registration forms that photography and videography may occur.

By attending the event, participants acknowledge the possibility of being photographed, filmed, or recorded and consent to our use of such material for promotional, informational, and reporting purposes related to the event and our organization. You can withhold your consent to be photographed, filmed, or recorded by writing to us at info@siphk.org prior to the event. If you do not provide consent, SIP will take reasonable steps to not capture your image or voice, or to exclude you from published media or blur your image as necessary. You may also withdraw your consent to be featured in any future, unpublished media by giving us [1 week's] written notice at [insert email], after which we will not use material that features you in any new media.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

To the extent necessary, SIP may disclose your personal data to the following parties solely for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy (including any directly related purposes):

  • Payment processors (e.g., banks, online credit card processors) for handling donations.

  • Third-party service providers (e.g., mailing companies, event organizers, IT vendors, marketing agencies).

  • Legal or regulatory authorities, as required by law or court order.

4.1 Donor Anonymity & Pro Bono Partner Contributions

Donors have the option to remain anonymous, and if donors so choose, SIP will ensure their identities are not disclosed.

 

Pro bono partner contributions (e.g., ideas, programs) will be kept strictly confidential and not shared without authorization.

5. Data Retention Policy

We will keep your personal data only for so long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes (including any directly related purposes) set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted under law. We will either irreversibly anonymize or securely destroy your personal data once we no longer need it.

6. Data Security Measures

SIP takes data security seriously. We adopt appropriate administrative, technical and physical security measures to help protect your personal data against unauthorized or accidental disclosure, access, misuse, loss, or alteration.

7. Use of Cookies & Website Tracking

By using SIP’s website or web pages, SIP may collect data about your computer or device, e.g., IP addresses, domain names, and URLs, through cookies or similar online tracking technologies. Such data is collected to enhance your browsing and user experience. Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can choose not to accept cookies by changing the settings on your browser, but if you do so, some features on our website or web pages may not function as well.

 

8. Access & Correction of Personal Data

You have the right to request access to any personal data that we hold of you and to request a correction of any inaccurate or outdated personal data. We may charge a reasonable fee for the processing of any personal access request.

9. Links to Other Sites

Our website may contain links to other third-party websites and applications. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third-party sites. We encourage you to be alert when following those links and review the privacy policies of those third-party sites.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

SIP may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on www.siphk.org. We encourage you to regularly check our website for the latest version. Your continued access or use of our Services after the amended Privacy Policy comes into effect will constitute your consent to the amendments. Nevertheless, if material changes occur, SIP will notify affected individuals and seek their consent where necessary.
